Hi:
I've just tried an OS install on a Prosignia 740 with a single processor. Working fine before the final reboot, on re-boot the sustem halted with the POST error:
Processor in incorrect slot, system halted.
I've tried:
1. Swapping processor and power card to the other slot
2. Replacing the processor
3. Setting the maintenance DIP switch 6 to bypas NVRAM
4. Trying a lower clock speed
5. Reseating the heatsink with new heatsink grease
6. Hoovering the area to remove dust and debris
All to no avail.
Obviously suggestions to use the floppy-based diagnostics don't work as the system halts before boot. The error message being displayed would suggest at least "something" is working! There are two micro-LEDs next to the processor, one green marked PWR, which is on, and another marked ERR which is not on.
I'm stumped!!
Any help much appreciated!
Regards
Jim
