possible to write file from flash?

i know flash can yank data from an XML file or a text file, but can it write back to either type? even if i was limited to the domain the swf is in, that would be fine.

Any ideas on the easiest way to store data from flash without a database? I want to make a flash page that allows someone to edit text which can be stored and will then appear in another flash movie. I dont need a DB really, its only for one user.

To write to a text file, you need some server side scripting of some sorst as Flash can't do it on it's own.

Unless you could use a sharedObject (a Flash cookie) in which some data can be saved and retreived but only on each user's machine.

Curses! thats about what i thought. Unfortunately a local shared object won't cut it in this case. So i guess i will have to do some ugly asp? I had no intention of learning to use that sh*t, but oh well...
