Hello

I use genie for my mail. (I.e. genie mail server) I use AOL as my ISP. How do I send mail? AOL doesn't not have a relay server. Is there anything special I can do e.g. send mail using a different protocol and somehow before it gets to the genie server it turns it back into smtp. I'm just making up stuff here. Are there any feasible solutions to my problem.

If you need more information please post.

Thanks

Chris

Generally you can only send SMTP when you are connected to the server in question. There are some exceptions to this, certainly in the UK NTL doesn't have any limitations on who you are connected to to use it's SMTP server.

As to AOL, they are more evil than Microsoft in the grand scale of things :) . I would advise that you sign up with a free pay as you go provider to send your outgoing mail and configure Outlook to receive from Genie.

There may be a way to bypass this. Let us know how you got on and I'll have a look around

Thanks.

I'm using genie dial up to send and recieve email. But I have to pay for the phone call. And its inconvinient just to send and recieve email I have to disconnect from AOL only to dial up genie.

I've thought about this for a while. Maybe there is some kind of program that can solve this problem.
