Data is populated into Oracle database and a SQL Server database. The tool that is used to access the SQL Server data is SQL Query Analyzer. The tool that is currently used to access the Oracle data is BI Query.

I would like to use Microsoft Access to pull data from SQL Server and Oracle into a query to compare/contrast the data.

I have in the past created a file DSN to link to Oracle data. I assume that linking to SQL Server from Microsoft Access would generally involve the same steps. However, is it possible to pull data from both Oracle and SQL Server into the same query?

If so, how do I accomplish?

Thanks in advance.

Use linked tables.

Hope This Helps, PH.

I am able to create a file DSN for Oracle and a separate one for SQL Server.

Is it possible to use two separate file DSNs to create a query that will pull data from Oracle and SQL Server simultaneously?

The SQL Server database was created approximately 5 years ago and the Oracle database created 3 years ago. It is possible that the same data is loaded into both databases but in fields that are named differently. I am trying to build a "crosswalk" between the data in Oracle and SQL Server.

Any other suggestions and/or comments as to how I can accomplish is greatly appreciated.

As PHV said, linked tables should do the trick.

Link the relevant tables from each database into your Access database.

I do something similar in a database with linked tables from Oracle, SQL Server and a couple of other Access databases. I have no problem mixing tables from a variety of sources in a single query
