possible to change the way a report exports to excel?

I have created a report in access that is formatted just the way I want it. However, I also need an excel copy of this report. But when I try to export it into excel it puts the grouping level in a new column on the spreadsheet. I need to know if its possible to have it put the grouping level in its own row above the fields that it groups? Or maybe another way to accomplish this. Thanks
