Possible to assign IP by MAC Dynamically?

I am trying to create an IP range to be assigned by MAC address dynamically. I am using W2K DHCP server. I want to use one subnet for PCs and servers, and I want to use the other subnet for IP telephones. I am trying to do this for troubleshooing purposes. I just can't figure out how to do this dynamically.

I know that I can do this via reservations, but that would involve a whole lot of data entry... which we are tyring to avoid. Does anyone have any ideas?

For the record, all of these phones have the same first 6 characters of the MAC address. Thanks

I don't believe you can do it without reservations.

You can achieve this, but you'll possibly have to change the structure of your network.
If you can find a way to create a routed subnet for your IP-phones, you can create a separate DHCP-scope on your DHCP-server.
In this scope you must set option '003 Router' to point to your router.
Of course you must setup a DHCP-relayer on your routed subnet. (Cisco can do this all in one, with the DHCP-helper option. 3Com does have a solution for this as well)

If the phones and switch support a vlan (cisco phones and switches do) then you can connect to the phones on the network using this method. Place a second dhcp server on the vlan to handle providing addresses. Note, the vlan can be on a different subnet. You will require knowledge of vlan's and routing to configure your network.
