Take off the right panel of the printer.
The arm on the solenoid latches on to a white cam. There's a black pad on the solenoid that gets gummy and sticky, this causes the arm to not release quick enough to latch on to the cam.
I cleaned out the sticky gunk between the solenoid and the arm and it works great.
I had this problem and have been hand feeding one sheet at a time for a week. If I can save someone else this terrible trouble I hope so.
