possible issues with .net3.0 or 3.5 Ellipse 6.1

I am having an issue when .net 3.0 and 3.5 are installed on a PC with Ellipse fat client installed.

The error message is "Could not find Ellipse in registry at Software\Mincom\Mims\6.1.0.0"

If I uninstall .net 3.5, 3.0, 2.0 then reinstall 2.0 it works fine. This has occured several times when windows is installing the later versions of .net and it has occured on several pc's
