hi there, i got old thinkpad t43 & t60, each got different problems

wondering can i install the core duo t2300 cpu from t60 into t43(original with pentium m 740) to make it a working?

fyi, checked the pin/socket is the same, just i couldn't search from web any info regarding the motherboard ot t43 supporting which range of cpu

any idea? many thx!

Are the CPUs on carriers or are they flow soldered?

They are both socket 479, but the t43 has cpu fsb of either 400 or 533 mhz. It runs a 915gm intel chipset which only supports up to 533 Mhz. The t2300 runs on 667 Mhz. So that is a no go. As a note, it's rare for a cpu to go bad. The t43 supports M730,M740,M750,M760,M770. Per the HMM from IBM and Lenovo.
