Hi guys,

Can I get someone to do a sanity check for me?

Running Brightstor Arcserve v9 for Windows, trying to add in Media Pools...

I go 'New Pool' in the Media Pool page, and in the configuration page give it a name ('P2P_DLY'), set the base serial number to 200, the range to 210, and 3,6,0 for the other three options for my daily pool.

Then add another 'New Pool', give it a name ('P2P_WLY'), set the base serial number to 220, the range to 230, and 4,34,0 for the other options.

When I click okay though, it comes up with a 'The Serial Number or Serial Range is invalid' error.

I've got no other media pools using this range. I thought perhaps it was conflicting with other media pools so tried it on an Arcserve 9 server with no media pools configured and it still complains. Have tried is on 9.0 and 9.01.

Reason I'm trying to do it manually is so my serial numbers are low for easy labelling...

Can someone else give this a try and see if they get the same result please? Am I misunderstanding something perhaps?

Steve.

I think that the 'range' is being misunderstood (or badly worded by CA!)

The Serial Number Range field is the QUANTITY of serial numbers to be made available to that pool, not the highest allowed serial number.
Try putting in 10 as the range, you'll find it will then work (by using the serial numbers from 200-209, as opposed to using 200-409 if you entered 210 as the range).
