Hopefully this is the correct forum... I have a strange issue here in that every now and then most of my workstations gain a big fat RED X on their mapped network connections in file manager suggesting the mapped drive is unavailable. When users click on the mapped drive they can access the drive and the X disappears. I am also getting some reports that the network seems to disappear very briefly and then connection is restored - whats happening and why?? I can't find a way of checking or monitoring this to see if a break on the E0 network is actually happening. Advice gratefully received...

regards

There is monitoring software available depending on what you want to pay and how thourough you need to be. You don't say what OS you are using but I know some of them will disconnect an unused network connection after a time and reconnect it when you try to access it again. Might try looking into that.

Cheer's franklin... I'm using W2K Pro OS. Can you point me to any freeware / shareware tools I can check out and if they are any good I don't mind buying them. Don't understand why a drive will be temp disconnected?
