We currently have an NCP-1000 with a TVA-200. I've been asked to find out if it's possible for someone to have a voicemail box without an actual phone? Sort of like a virtual extension that can be called but that only goes to voicemail.

The intent is to extend the life of our system without buying more phones, by allowing users who don't need a phone to still have a way to reach them (voicemails are sent to us via email from the TVA).

I have a feeling this is not possible, but I wanted to check with you folks just in case it is.

Yes. You couls set up a portable extension (don't need to register a phone)
Fwd it to voicemail and setup a mailbox for it

I created the extension number on the portable station page. The status column lists it as "None". When I try to dial that extension I get "re-order tone" on the phone. Any ideas?

Have you gone into extensions/portable extensions and fwd.

Forward it to voicemail
