Hey guys,

I'm looking for an alternative to the ALOHA POS I've had for the last 10 years. Is there a resource anyone can suggest for comparing new systems? I liked ALOHA and used it with iPads, but the costs are becoming ridiculous especially in light of the present options.

Thanks

I would suggest you think about what you need the POS to do, especially what you cannot do without. If you want a system that has the same or more features as Aloha and will last a long, there is POSitouch and Micros. Maybe a small handful of systems out there are also at that level or just below it.
Although a few of the IPad systems and cloud systems are half decent, most are from companies that don't provide on site service, charge to use forever, don't have all the features yet, use inferior hardware and don't make a profit. The last point is interesting, if you buy a product from a company that has yet to make a profit you can expect that they will likely be sold in the future or shrink. Revel is about to be bought by IBM and no one knows why, Breadcrumb is on their second owner and has shrunk significantly, Clover is now owned by First Data.

There is a saying "You get what you pay for"...
If you want a great system that has support you will probably have to pay for it.
