POS Question

This may come across as a "dumb question" but I was wondering if there was a way that transaction data (from the POS system) could be extracted through a universal code or program and be compatible with most POS systems without having to write a code specific for each individual model or maker of the POS systems?

I wouldn't think so. Whether the transaction data is held in database tables or journal files, the structure of that data will definitely be different for each POS system.
