Hello,

My company has developed a device and app that provides automated in-room concierge services for hotel guests. Some of the hotels we work with have asked about integrating with their POS system to provide room service functionality. As someone that is new to this, it would be helpful to get input on:
1. How long integration time typically takes (and what it involves).
2. How much companies typically charge for this integration; perhaps there are also other fees such as for a license or a cost per transaction.
3. What is the most important thing I should be aware of doing this for the first time?

Thanks.

It is dependent on the POS system being used by the hotel. The most popular ones you will find in hotels in the US will be Micros, POSitouch and Aloha. There may be a few others as well. To do a direct integration to POSitouch is mostly free to develop then there might some costs to the hotel for the software key and implementation. Micros and Aloha charge for the integration piece to develop and deploy.
One choice that you should look at is Omnivore. Omnivore handles all the implementation to the various POS systems. All you do is integrate to their spec. Once you are integrated, they will add you to their marketplace.
