Hi All,

I am having a setup where the customer does not want the users to be able to unplug an IP phone and connect thier PC/laptop onto it. Due to this I am looking to clock all ports on the access switches (Nortel 5520 switches) while allowing only the ports used by IP phones to pass thru.

The NTP lists the following ports,
UDP 4100 Ethernet UNIStim is the TPS
UDP variable Ethernet RTP specified by the TPS
UDP 5000 Ethernet Net 6
UDP 5200 Ethernet RTP src from phone
UDP 5201 Ethernet RTCP src from phone

Can anyone tell me what this variable port range is which NTP says is speciufied by the TPS.

That is the RTP, or the actual audio streams from the server to the phones. Each active call has 2 RTP ports. usually a large range of ports are allocated and the server uses them as needed.

Not familiar with the Nortel 5520 switch, but I know with a cisco switch you can enable port security. Port security works by a devices MAC addy. Once a MAC addy is registered to a port on the switch, if a differant device is plugged in that port, the switch disabled it because the MAC addy doesnt match.

Thanks to all for the replies.

@GHTROUT
I will check out the access lists restrictions on the data switch and compare it with the one mentioned in the PDF.

Any findings I will post back.
