Users complain that sometimes it takes long time to get into their mailboxes.
I have 14 voice ports between the Octel and the G3si (port 14 is for the message waiting light only).
I do not see any hardware errors.
How can I be sure that all ports work?

Looking at this port statistics report, I do not see any problems. Am I missing anything?

There seems to be a fairly even spread, and all looks ok, but the only sure way to check is to dial each port individually. It could be that timings are set differently on the PABX.

Jonathan

Jonathan,
Thank you.

You said, "It could be that timings are set differently on the PABX"

What are timings?
How can I check if timings are set right?

What I meant was that ideally the calls should be forwarded to the Octel immediately, but it may be that some of the ports are forwarding on RNA (Ring No Answer). Therefore the Octel is not receiving the call until several rings have passed. Depending on the integration, it could take the Octel several seconds to process the call and answer. This could add up to a considerable delay for the users. By calling each port in turn you may get an idea of these delays and whether they are on all or just some ports.

Jonathan

Jonathan,

I called each port, and each port answers after one ring.
What would be the next step in troubleshooting?

Perhaps we need to get a little more specific information now. You said that users 'sometimes' complain about it taking a long time to access their mailboxes. Are they always the same users, are they calling from a specific phone (internal or external)? Does it happen at a particular time of day? Is it possible to be running a trace when it happens?
To run a trace:
@L T 1
You may run the trace either continuously, or if the system is not too busy, you can look back through the buffer.
