I have a server behind a Firewall. I want to allow remote users access to a SQL server. Do I only need to open Port 1433 or are other ports required to be opened also?
1433 is the only port required for SQL 7.0 or earlier.
SQL 2000 requires UDP port 1434 also. SQL Server 2000 uses UDP port 1434 to establish communications links from applications. Terry L. Broadbent
