i am running my web site on my personal computer using win2000 and IIS5; when ports are tested, I have ports 21, 25, 80 and 443 (ftp, smtp, http and https)open while other are stealth; my understanding is that port should be open, so the site can be viewed;

so, I just want to check here if there is some security setting that I am missing (for example, can the port have stealth status and my site still be visible to the visitors?)

well, if your are only running web services, u might wanna leave only port 80 open.... as far as my Win2k experience goes, u can only shut off the other ports by stopping the services that use them, such as FTP and SMTP.. u can do this using the services tool in the Win2k administrative console... these ports should appear closed after this...

good luck..
