I have a PIX 501 with three servers behind it. Two are nameservers for DNS and the third is an Exchange box. All three servers are Win2k. I want to squeeze my open ports down to the absoulte minimum that are needed open for smooth communication. After many trials and errors I would like to see what you all would think are needed open to support all the services that DNS requires as well as Exchange and OWA. Also I would like to be moble with my laptop and use outlook express to send messages when I'm away from home. While researching this I have found many listings for the common ports needed open, but I just want to be sure.

I would go for:

25 - SMTP
110 - POP3
80 - HTTP (OWA)
443 - HTTPS/SSL (OWA)Would also recommend using this, not standard HTTP for OWA as it's not very secure. Certificates are cheap to buy and very easy to install.
53 - DNS

Hope this helps
