System – G3si V8.2
I am having strange problem going on today.
Two ports/two extensions are working for some time and then not working, and again...
I have done busyout/release a few times.
What else should I do?

Thanks.

If you have a non-standard Avaya phone or modem connected to the port that can cause it. If so, you can usually solve the problem by turning of testing on that port.

Please answer all questions so that I may have the info to assist you. Leaving a post on how you fixed the problem will also be appreciated.

Thank you orypecos.
These are 2 standard analog phones and they have been working fine for long time before today. I do not understand how turning off testing on those ports will help the users. Can you please explain?
As I said in my first message, the PBX is G3si V8.2

You may have a board thats going bad. I would wire these up off different ports and see if the problems follow the sets or if it stays on the ports. Could be as easy as an amphinal cables loose on one end or the other.

Hell, there are no rules here - we're trying to accomplish something.

What model of phones?
Turning off the testing will stop the system from disconnecting the phones when it sees something strange out there. For instance, a Panasonic phone, or a modem that doesn't have a ringer.
If your wiring is not the best, a transit spike on one wire can induce a current in the analog line and cause it to go out.
Are they off premises lines?
