I have a thread on this subject but no one has come up with a fix yet. The problem is- my server has the IP of 192.168.0.1 and the hostname is scosysv. If I ping scosysv I get PING scosysv.uucp.com (213.130.63.234): I tried everything sco has in its knowledge base that I could find. I don't have a etc/resolv.conf file. I have checked for any other mention of scosysv.uucp.com anywhere else. I have tried removing the domain name, and changing the hostname but when I reboot it all changes back. HELP!

Since you don't have an /etc/resolv.conf file, then name->ip resolution will be only in your /etc/hosts file.

Do you have multiple entries in there for scosysv ?

the address 213.130.63.234 is the real address for scosysv.uucp.com so if it is not in your hosts file then you are resolving thru a dns somewhere (which is defined in /etc/resolv.conf )

I would suggest that you reconfigure in netconfig and call your system something other than scosysv.

Gennerally, your /etc/hosts table does not match your netconfig, missing entry, duplicate entry
