Porting from Dos To Windows

I have actually a small program that does nothing but searches a table and launches an other application, this is actually running well for DOS. But I would like to call this program from Windows without having this annoying console windows poping up everytime. Is it possible to call this program in a transparent manner ?
Otherwise, how is handled argv argc with Windows?
