Porting from Batch System to Transaction Processor

Does anyone have any experience or tips in migrating a Dialog based Cobol system (HPUX) from Batch processing to Transaction Processing? I'm trying to assess the impact of such a migration with the intention being that we would be in a better position to expose complex updates as web services.
Any help or advice greatly appreciated.

Might need a few more details - not sure I understand how you can have a batch dialog?
