Portal administration problem

Hi! I'm the administrator of a sharepoint 2003 system, I have created a portal site and one subsite for testing. My problem is that the "general setting" of the portal site is not active so I can't reach to the portal site setting. I have set the sharepoint administrative group account in the central administration but it's the same.

Have you got a solution ?

Hi,

Do you log in with an account that is a member of the Sharepoint administrative group? What happends when click on the Site Settings link? Are you prompted for a username and password or does it just not display the page?

I'm log in as the administrator account that is a menber of the administrative group. haven't the site setting link on the portal site. It display the page without prompting as if I'm only a reader.

Have you checked the authentication settings in IIS?
I have disabled anonymous access and als use Windows Integrated authentication in IIS. Also check the security settings in your web browser, under security local intranet, click custom level and at the bottom of that list you have a choice of user authentication, and check if it is set to anonymous logon..I have changed mine to use automatic logon with current username and password. Not sure if this will help..but might be worth a try.

Ok , I have tried but without success..
I finally deleted the portal site and created a new one. Now it's ok , I can acces portal site setting. I don't know what's happen, but I will try to avoid doing the same !

Hi Zaizar,I'm mizzi,I've installed sharepoint and I'm administrator of the portal like you but I've the problem that if I want to create My site occurs an error of security validation..the creation fails!Do you have problems with My site?Can you help me?

Hello Mizzi . I have also testing a personal site creation but everything goes well. I created it as administrator ( member of sharepoint admin group ) , I haven't encounter security validation. I haven't testing more so I can't tell you more. Sorry !
