Portable USB Drive not showing up

I attached a Power Boy portable USB drive to my laptop, IBM Thinkpad, Windows 2000 Pro but while the drive is recognized by the system, (it shows up in the device manager) it does not show up as a listed drive, i.e. there is no icon or letter assigned to it.
Device manager states that the driver was successfully installed and there is no problem.
But obviously there is a problem because the drive does not show up!
