Port Redirecting

I have a LAN whit an shared cable modem (using win ME internet sharing connection) like this:

And i wanted to be able to redirect some (or all) ports to the computer (192.168.0.2)

ex.

create an IRC server on 192.168.0.2 and anyone on the internet be able to connet it by the internet IP (213.190.xxx.xx)

I don't think you can port route with Windows ME. If you are using the network sharing capability of Windows ME that is just what it was designed to do, basic modem/network sharing. If this is a home system, consider getting a NetGear RT314, the new firmware supports just what you are looking for, you can setup ACL's and route ports to specific internal IP Addresses and it supports your cable modem extremely well (I currently have one). Although I don't have much experience with IRC Servers, I have seen a few people running game servers and IRC servers behind a RT314. Hope this helps and if anyone knows how to Port Route through a Windows ME box let us all know.......

Something else I thought of is a third party proxy software. There may be a software package that you can get to install on the Windows ME box that will allow you to share the network connection as well as forward ports to specific IP's. This might be a little better of a setup for you then changing you current network structure. Unfortunately I am not an expert on proxy software. I've used winproxy in the past but I've seen some third party software packages that people have mentioned that are free on the internet. You might consider this approach.

Win ME does not do advanced proxying or routing to that level... not port redirection either.. u will need server OS to provide that kind of service with more stability...

have u tried Linux.. it does have some good software for that... u can setup the Linux server to route all traffic destined for a service running on an internal machine with no problem... the catch is, however, that the same service cannot run on the Linux server, as the port will already have been taken...

i am not sure whether Win NT/2000 does it... but Linux would be the safest bet!!

Tanks to everyone ho reply to my problem but the thing is that i must use Win ME on that PC because it is used as a workstation as well!! mabe there is a software tha does that on windows ME !?!?

I have the answer for my own thread ;-).

I've started to use the "WinRout Pro" that is an excellent routing software. It allows you to redirect port, block ports, NAT, DHCP,.... and an DNS serve, POP serve, SMTP, Remote Admin.....
It can be used on Win9x !!!

try netcat (nc) for windows (link below)... works with Win95/98/nt/2000 but I've never tried with WinME. By the way... if your bass has any sence, he will know you are piping illegal ports and fire you.
