UNIX services for NT will let you treat NT printers as if they are UNIX printers.

hey
You can also use print server services on Windows
NT for this purpose.

Hash!

ok i have a basic understanding of how aix works. how would you do this and the printers are hooked up to the aix server. but its no reconized on the win network

tipifire,

Have you asked your question in an NT forum?

If you don't want to set up more software in your NT server, then install "Microsoft TCP/IP printing services", share your printer and then set up a printer queue in your RS (a remote queue of SysV kind using the share name of printer).

I hope it works...

ok ok theres confusion here the printer is hooked up to aix server through a multiserial port. and windows networking in setup differently...... but you did give me a idea

I think you are going to have to install the Services for UNIX pack on you NT server to print to your AIX printer. This will give NT the ability to print to lpr based printers. Says the Manager to the person that invented the modem: "Tell me again why you need two prototypes?!?"

ok but like microsoft is - they wany money. I'm not got gonna spend one hundred dollars for hooking up one printer....

SAMBA is free..... Says the Manager to the person that invented the modem: "Tell me again why you need two prototypes?!?"

Yes Tipifire !

u can load SAMBA on your AIX box and share your printers
