Heres the setup, coming in from our ISP, i have a ActionTec GT701-gw DSL modem connected to a SR2246 Cisco switch. Off that switch i have 2 computers 2 printers and a WebRanger II, which is sent across our Microwave system to a WebRanger which has an Sony IP Camera pluged into the LAN port. Now i want to access the IP camera from home. I can access the IP camera from the 2 computers plug into the switch, and i port foward the DSL modem port 80 for both TCP and UDP to the IP Camera, but i still can't view the Camera from home! the WebRangers do not have any firewalls operating on them... port foward is new to me, so any help would be greatly appreciated

How do you access the camera from the 2 computers plugged into the switch? Through a web browser or some other software?

I have access to the Camera through the web browser! i was thinking maybe i need a router after the modem.
Thanks

Are you trying to access the web camera from using an internal IP address? That could be one reason why it works for you at work.

On the router at work you need to set up a rule that will port forward external connections on the camera port to the cameras internal IP address...

so say your IP camera is 192.168.1.55 and operates on port 12345

The rule will be on your Router to forward from your address (or any address...although if you do that make sure you have a password or anybody can see the camera) and source port to the camera on port 80

eg:
The rule would see the incoming connection on port 12345 and then forward that to the camera internally using port 80 - and voila.

Excuse me if I have the wrong end of the stick...

And I am also assuming that your office router is performing NAT.
