I'v tried everything I can think of to make port 8080 visible outside my network but it just won't work. From inside the router I can see the port and the site being served but even though I have the box in the DMZ, have port forwarding enabled and port triggering on (some of this is probably redundant) I still can't see it from the outside. What am I doing wrong? HELP!![sadeyes]

franklin97355,

smah's tip above is perfectly apt. I will tell you my own results.

If you DMZ, that is it. Do nothing else.
If you then forward, it will not work
If you then trigger, it will not work

If what you want is remote access, (a quite honestly actual security breach to the max) then just enable the port on the router, forward 1 LAN IP as a straight Advanced port assignment using TCP, and do nothing else for the LAN side client.

Adding DMZ and/or other forwards and/or triggers on 8080 will confound the router and flat out will not work. Enable the remote access (I would pick an address other than 8080), as smah suggested disable WAN blocking, and assign as a pure port forward the address to a local LAN IP. Less is more in this particular case.

Best.

Actually I don't want access to the router but to a web server that resides on a linux box at 192.168.1.2. I can see the Apache server on port 80 but not the zserver on port 8080. I'll try some of the tips and see if any work. (I've tried just putting the box in the DMZ and that does not seem to work.

check if your ISP is blocking ports 8080. may I ask if you are accessing the webserver from your system going out to the net and back?.. well in that case your may have a loopback problem. enable the access log on the router and try going out. also do what smah suggested disabled block wan request.after trying to check out if you see your zserver check if it is registering on the access log..if not you have loopback problems. try getting another firmware downgrade or upgrade. which ever firmware would work for you.. try that..

franklin,

Then clean port forward entries should be all you need to do.

There can be other issues, the router does not do reverse lookups. If you specify the port in the browser, e.g.

it should let you in.
