I'm not sure you've got that correct. They may be upset because you are hosting a Web Server on your connection. You should be able to run IIS on another port. I have no idea if VI will work with IIS on another port.
Another possible solution is to shut IIS down when your not developing, maybe they won't care if they don't see the port listening 24/7
