Hi

has ie7 the progress bar at the bottom of the screen as in v6.
Used to show the page load errors etc can't seem to find it anywhere

Ensure the status bar is on - the progress bar is in roughly the same place - but it's shrunk. IE7 also puts a moving icon on the tab while a page is loading - a sort of rotating circle, for want of a better description.

But that was never a progress bar - just a bar that moved until the page was loaded or IE gave up!

Some things, like the padlock for secure sites are no longer on the status bar - but have been moved onto the tab.
