Popup "preferences" window

I am plagued with the Preference window of Quicktime constantly poping-up, about half-a-dozen times in sequence per internet music/video link I click.
It constantly wants to know my Connection Speed, yet never remembers it. Besides, that window has no Apply or OK that would ensure my preferences are being recorded.

What do I do to solve this extremely annoying problem?
