Populating table with parameter from another 1

Hello, I've been researching, and cannot find a way to pass a value from one table as an input parameter into another. So, Table1 has an invoice number, and based on this Table2 would be populated with the items for that invoice. I guess you could call this a cascading parameter, except I would like to keep it on the same report and self populating without the user having to click on a link to a subreport and so forth. I'm think this should be possible but not sure.

Need a bit more info - do you have 1 or 2 datasets?

Presumably you have 2 with 1 returning the appropriate invoice number and the other returning the details.

If not, that is the way to go. Use the parameter to drive the 2nd dataset and use the 2nd dataset to populate the table. The table itself does not have any parameter properties....

btw subreports do not have to be "click thru" - a subreport can be embedded in the main report and a parameter passed through to it - not a lot different from passing parameters from 1 dataset to another...

Thank you so much Geoff!! I really appreciate your help. I didn't know you could pass through params to an embedded subreport. I was able to get what I needed from tweaking the query then applying different groupings, but a subreport is the better way to go for sure.
