Hello,

Has anyone ever seen a problem where popper processes refuse to die on our openserver

The mail client hangs with 'Authorising..' and eventually times out. We are then left with a popper process running under the pop3 userid. these seem to really suck up server resources until killed.

uname -X >

System = SCO_SV
Node = xxxxxx
Release = 3.2v5.0.6
KernelID = 2000-07-27
Machine = Xeon
BusType = ISA
Serial = 3JI000669
Users = 205-user
OEM# = 0
Origin# = 1
NumCPU = 2

We are using sendmail. Any comments appreciated. Thanks.

I think i may have found the answer, my inetd.conf does not specify a timeout for /etc/popper

eg -T 15

Will try that, thanks anyway.
