I am running an XP Pro system that I keep fairly clean. For the past couple of weeks I am getting pop ups galore. Athough in IE6the popup blocker is set to high security and the Bell Security Manager software also offers a pop upblocker, I keep getting them. Some random, some every 5 minutes, some that open one, two then three and four pages, one after the other. I have removed all downloaded software (demos, music...), I have run a full virus scan and full spyware scan with Spybot and Bell Security Manager. I found lots and got rid of them, but the popups come back. I have cleared temp. files for IE, history. I have put them on the list of sites not to allow but then they come back uder a diffrent name. I don't know what else to do save reinstall OS which I hesitate to do. These popups are driving me nuts. Any suggestions?

Download avg anti spyware from the link below. set it to delete everything it finds

Also download ccleaner from the link below (if you have nero, uncheck it from the programs)

Are they browser pop-ups (i.e. with an IE logo in the top-left corner, and graphics - not just text), or are they windows message box popups (no IE logo, just text)?

If the latter, your popup blocker will not stop these. You could disable the windows messaging service instead.

Hope this helps,
Dan
