Hi,

i wonder if this is possible? Basically i want to display a message to the user when a report is loaded up that they can then click away. no parameters on it, just a simple message. Is this possible? i have seen posts that suggest having a html page that is used as a pop up, but we dont have full access to the server where our reports are deployed, so a vb one on the report would be probably our only option? we are using ssrs 2008.

Thanks

I've not come across anything like this in ssrs2008 but I've not been using it that long, so may have just missed it.

however, you can probably replicate this behaviour by using report redirects, i.e. have your popup message as the report that's accessed by default, and have a link on that report to go to the real report.

not ideal though...

nope - SSRS is non interactive aside from dynamic sorting, parameter selection and click throughs - there is no handling for any kind of "code behind" to do what you would require

Either use Crowley's suggestion of report redirection (your initla report having no data as such, just a textbox with a fixed message and a click action) or look at having an ASP page whicb provides the message and on click uses an iFrame or ReportViewerControl to display the report

Rgds, Geoff

We could learn a lot from crayons. Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names and all are different colours but they all live in the same box.
