POP mail not working when connected to the VPN

Hello,
I have a machine that has a VPN connection to the main office, The Vpn works well and once connected I can access my work mail using outlook- the problem is that I also have a 2nd email address that is set up in outlook (As POP3) and it fails when I am connected to the VPN but works when I am not on the VPN. So I have to disconnect from the VPN to recieve this mail.BUT while I am at the office and connected to the network I can recieve mail from Both accounts.
Any ideas?
I have a sonic wall router and the exchange Server is Win 2k3 sbs

What address is the POP3 server you lookup in Outlook, is this still able to be resolved whilst you are on the VPN? Can you ping it etc. It may be that the VPN is not presenting your computer with the corrct DNS servers to find the POP3 host.
