Hello,

I am a newbie with sendmail. Occassionally, my users
complain that they can't get their email. I check
/var/log/messages (BSD equivalent of /var/adm/messages),
and usually see one of the following messages:

.pop lock busy. Is another session active?

-ERR POP EOF received

-ERR password supplied for "username" is incorrect.

On one hand, I know what each message means, but they
don't seem to be accurate. For example, I have hardcoded
my password into my email client, but I still get the
password incorrect error. I change my password on the
server, and can telnet to it, etc. , but sendmail still
kicks out the password error. HAs anyone seen this? I have
checked sendmail.org, does anyone know any other good sites?
Maybe a site of sendmail error messages and fixes?

Thanks!

Did you ever get resolution on this? If not check to make sure that your Pop3d is compiled to support shadow passwords.

Good Luck!
