I have a BCM 400 and a BCM 50 connected across a PTP (2 bonded T's) for voice and data. THe 50 accesses outside lines via the 400's PRI. Some users on the 50 side are experiencing poor call quality across the VoIP trunks. I have QOS monitoring on both sides using H.323 and most settings are the default. THis is my first VoIP trunk setup and would like for it to work properly. I know that on the 400 side new routers etc where put in place that support QOS. If the 50 side does not have QOS supported equipment this would affect their call quality, right? Are there any settings that I can change to enhance the call quality.

You could change the codecs. But, yes you need level 3 switches that can tag voice packets at both ends. Since your sharing voice/data over the P-P, you need true Qos.

Adversity is Opportunity

All the Codecs are added. Should they be in a specific order? The rest is what i thought also. Thanks for the input

Only select the codes you want to use. 729 is your best bet across a WAN.

As dewey mentioned, you need QOS end to end. If you don't have that, don't waste any more time. Have someone look at the configs on the routers and adjust/verify the QOS configuration. More likely than not your issues will be on the WAN, not the LAN.

Thanks for the advice biv343. Ill remove the 711 and 723 and see what happens.
