I'm using 8.5 , and getting complaints about poor quality charts.
Although when viewing a chart on the screen, the lines/curves/fonts retain quality when increasing magnification, the same does not happen when the report is viewed as a subreport or in a pdf export. Clearly the chart is exported as a bit map rather than a vector image. Neither is there a control over the resolution at which the image is exported. The radar charts are particularly bad, because the circular lines look ragged even before any magnification is applied.

Also there seems to be no way of specifying the font or colour of the titles and other text elements of a chart.

All in all, not very professional reports are the result.

Has anyone any ideas on how to overcome these problems?
Is there some way of plugging in an alternate, better quality chart source?

Maybe I've overlooked some magic configuration options!!!

cheers STEF

I was having chart resolution problems while exporting to PDF format. I followed Crystal Decisions Knowledge Base article ID: c2009714 which requires making some changes to registry and it worked!

Hey this system really works! Thank you very much!!!!!
The article clearly states this is a known issue in 8.5

I had a lengthy discussion with Crystal support people who obviously didn't know it was an issue!

However they were able to clue me up on how to define many of the things I want control over. The trick is to go to preview, select the chart then invoke chart analyser.
Then select an element such as the chart title and right click. You then get an additional item on the menu that appears called 'format selected item', Then depending on the type of item, you get appropriate options such as font size, type, colour etc. etc. (no wonder I couldn't find it!)
