Hi
We are using Solaris 5.8 and the application server and
Oracle database server are on different Sun boxes
The back end services are in C++ published in Tuxedo. A very strange thing is happening. While invoking any service through Power builder front end the total time end to end is 8 sec while the trace in the database (Oracle 9i) shows only 0.8 seconds. Usually the performance of C++ has been very good as compared to the calls in DB. Is there any thing to do with OS tuning? May be we are missing to check some important parameter. Could anybody suggest what all to look for?.......I feel network is not a problem here. Please suggest.

One thing to look at is the state of your network card. I had several workstations that would auto negotiate to 100mb half duplex. This caused a huge bottle neck that killed network performance... Once I forced 100mb full duplex, the performance problems went away... You can see the ndd commands to set in thread: thread60-868149
