Hello

I have 2 users out of 250 that are having a problem with the performance when running Goldmine. The Goldmine/SQL/ODBC/BDE configuration is identical to the other 248 users. They are running XP and are fine on processor speed, memory, etc.

The problem occurs when trying to complete a scheduled call from the activity list. The PC freezes up with a white screen. They lose their toolbar constantly.

I'm pretty sure it is network related. Some tests were done, but I want to make sure I'm not missing something before I push the issue with our LAN dept.

Has there beeen any similar issues like this? Any details are appreciated. We have gotten to the point that we can get Goldmine running pretty well on a PC by checking all the settings. The other 248 are fine but these 2 have me stumped.

Thanks
Dave

sorry, I forgot to add this is SQL version 5.5

If this is SQL 5.5 than I am guessing that you are running GM 4.0?

That doesn't run on XP, and it will throw errors all day

You can try runnining GoldMine in Windows 98 mode or Windows 2000 mode and see if that helps you

Sorry again, I'm usually better with details - rough week.

Im using SQL ver 7.0

Goldmine is 5.7

I did it again, I mean Goldmine is 5.5

Thanks
Dave

Dave,

The toolbar disappearing is an XP & GoldMine thing, simple min GoldMine then normalise and it comes back alternatively run the EXE & DLL's locally then you can set the EXE to run in windows 2000 compatibility mode (right click properties on the icon) and it will keep the toolbars.

If your seeing a slowness from this workstation compared to 248 others then it pretty much points to connectivity for these two machines. What type of connection are you running for the SQL ie TCP/IP or Named Pipes?

Richard

Thanks for the response Richard, I will check out the toolbar fix.

Were using TCP/IP.

Thanks
Dave

Hi Richard, it turned out to be network related. I figured it was and should have had them look into it sooner. Thanks for your help.
