Hi Everyone.

Now, I mite be asking a really simple question, but it is really bugging me...

Why is the font quality on Linux XWindows so poor?

For example, in Netscape 6, most text is almost impossible to read... particularly if it is bold... Am I doing something wrong??? I've got an installation on RedHat 7.2 and I've installed NN6... I've not changed or installed anything else... I only need it to check websites on Linux to look for compatibility issues... but the font quality is terrible... HELP!!!!!

Best Regards

Andrew

Hi,

Yes, this does cause a few problems and most people would have to admit the default font setup is not as pretty as windows. I guess thats why there is a XFree86 Font de-uglification howto !
Just follow that and you should be fine - you can use all the win trutype fonts so you should be able to get it as good as you'd expect.

Hope this helps
