I am going to rant for a bit here, bear with me....
I get so many calls anymore from customers saying they can't hear very clearly, can't be heard, get lots of calls where they pick up and no one is there, they have to practically yell to be heard, and I guess that's about it.
It is all different phone systems, all different situations, but an ever increasing amount of similar complaints.
CELL PHONES HAVE RUINED CLEAR COMMUNICATION!! So often people are on their cells, on crappy Bluetooth or corded headsets, in the wind, on the highway with their windows down, or not, there is still road noise, smashing the cell phones to their mouths, causing muffled conversations, on speaker with who knows what going on in the background. It is so frustrating to find out whether it is something I can fix or not. But these calls where the customer picks up and no one is there happen A LOT, it even happens to me at my home. I hear there are autodialers that might be looking for certain kind of people to answer, or scammers listening for old people's voices, if they hear younger voices they hang up? Whatever, it is majorly frustrating. I just ask the customer to log the calls, which line? Incoming or outgoing? Cell or landline caller?, etc. But I am looking pretty bad these days because they look to me to fix these issues, and I cannot.
Do you think that the older phone systems, after a certain amount of time, degrade in volume? Just grasping at straws here. I had one customer that had a Talkswitch and had super low volume. I replaced it with a Nortel CICS, and there was still low volume. We changed carriers from the phone company to the cable company lines, still low volume. This stuff drives me crazy.
Over and out.
