We have a Norstar MICS telephone system. Each phone has a "pool" feature button which allows user to make outside calls. Some phones only need dial one "9" other users must dial two "9"s (we have centrex service requiring an additional 9). I checked internal configurations on both types of features and there is no difference, however I cannot get our current users to dial only one 9 when making an outside call. When I display the programming on the feature button, the phone that requires 2 "9", shows the 7-digit trunk number, the phone that doesn't require 2 "9"s, shows "pool 9" and no 7 digit number. How do I change certain phones to only have to access one "9

Your Choices:

Intercom 9 to get a line then another 9 because Centrex wants it.

Or you can program a button to dial the first 9 to get a line out then you dial a 9 because Centrex wants it.
To program above is F*3,Press a Button,F649.

Or you can program the phone for Prime Line access=Pool A
Then program under Cababilties/Hotline/Ext/Prime/Press F78, 9. So pick up reciever or press Handfree and it will dial both 9's. This might be done already on some phones there for your problem?

Or build a routing table to have the 9's inserted.

look at the FAQs for the feature code for pool access program it on a button- press that button to make an o/g call, that'll probably solve it

Thanks for the posts, however the F649 just allowed it to be a pool button as it was before. The display on the phone that includes both 9's works like this: hit the button, display shows Pool 9, then it goes blank and another display shows ..9, once that happens you just dial the outside number. The other phones when hitting the pool button, shows the trunk ID and then you have to manually enter a 9 to make an outside call. I checked all configurations and all phones are set up the same exact way? What am I missing. Also we do not have the hotline feature under capabilities and I do not know how to build a routing table. Any suggestions on why the display is different on the one phone that doesn't need a manually entered 9?

Do a Feature *0 on each pool button and see if there programed the same.

When accessing the F * 0 on each pool button, the phone that requires 2 nines, the display shows the tunk ID (7 digit telephone number, the other phone (doesn't need any 9's) shows "pool 9" and no 7 digit phone number

You found your answer. The Pool is set to insert the extra 9, not uncommon. That set that needs two 9s is not set to have Pool Access, or so it sounds. Make sure that all of the sets have access to the appropriate Pools. Then look at the Prime Line settings. Perhaps they should be set to Prime Line=Pool I (that would be Pool 9). That way, when they pick up the handset or press handsfree, they will automatically get a free Pool line and not have to add any 9s.

The seven digit phone number that you see from F*0 indicates that you have selected a Trunk Appearance.

Good Luck.

Okay, I was just over there and when I do a Feature * 0 and press the button, the phone that has to manually dial a 9 reads on the display "Pool 9". The phone that does not have to dial any 9, show "Pool 9, then display goes blank, then ..9 appears. How do I program that additional 9? Both extensions are configured exactly the same way under the Configuration programming.
