is it possible to draw a polyline with a width of 12 for example and explode it so i have two lines 12 inches apart. i would like to do this to speed up drafting time. i cant use mulitlines as i need to use fillets and different starting and ending widths of the lines.

Hi,

No. When a polyline is given a certain width the width is spread outwards from the centre (where you draw it). So exploding it will only ever produce one line (not two parallel ones.

Depending what version you are using and if it's LT or not, there's a command called dline short for double-line, which is very much like multiline but you can fillet sections of it. Basically it draws two polylines parallel to each other to the designated offset distance (which you can determine)

Try it if you've got or can get LT. If not not I'm not sure you can do what you need without the help of a VBA of AutoLISP routine..

If you like, I can write a short VBA macro that will draw what you need!!

Let me know. Email me on:
