Polycom not ringing

Hello,

I have a polycom that rings fine, we just received a new one because it supports a bigger room, and it will not ring, however everything but the ring works. Polycom thought it was the polycom and they sent a replacement and it did the same thing. My question is does anyone know the ring voltage and frequency the 016 with ring generator card?

Thanks,

Not sure what a 0080PX is, cannot find anything on that. However the RG-10A sounds like a good start, we think we might try that, for 200 bucks its not a bad deal considering we paid 1200 for the polycom.

Thanks for the help guys. And also thanks for the info on the output voltage. We also might try to hand a scope from the port to see what this card is really generating.

I meant the 800 OPT card.

Opx is an old term for off premesis extensions
Opt is avaya's term for off premesis telephones.

I just looked it up and the ringing voltages listed in the pocket reference is 75 volts for the 008opt and 105 volts for the 016 T/R but the ringing on the 016 is 30 HZ and on the OPT it is 20 Hz which makes me think it is the way it sends the ring and not necessarily the voltage.

Go with the viking, it should do a good job of cleaning up the ring.

Will it ring if plugged into a regular telephone jack running a Telco line, i.e., not one off the PBX?

TTECH is right on with the RING FREQ.

Look at that in the programming.

Pepperz, Yes it will ring on a regular telephone jack but not off the PBX. Also I tried one of those old clunky phones with the analog bell and it too follows the polycom vtx1000, which tells me that its a current problem since all other phones will ring off the PBX. Thanks for the help guys, I really appreciate it. Were going to order the RG10a viking amplifier, I have a feeling that it will work.

I had the same darn problem with a new Polycom. Ended up plugging an external ringing bell onto a bridged jack and they were happy because they could hear it. Never did pursue it to find out what the issue was...

Ok Guys I finally received the ring repeater. It does not change anything, however you can see the repeater light blink when it rings, but to no avail the polycom will not ring. Same problems as before, polycom works but will not ring. Damn, I thought this would be the fix...

One more thing to add, I tried that old analog bell ringer phone and it will now ring with the repeater but will not ring directly plugen into the pbx, so it seems that the repeater works. Tried again to play with the polycom and still does not ring... I am going to try to see if polycom will send out a new power supply, since they sent out a new phone without the power supply and that doesn't work the only thing I can think of is the supply from polycom is flaky..

Now I'm working with polycom engineering, I used an old power supply from an old polycom and it rings. Polycom came back and said they seem to have an issue with the new power supplies.
