Hello,
In one of our conference rooms we are using a Polycom 6000 that was installed a little over a month ago. Our Mitel 3300Cx is fully up to date on it's firmware/os and I believe (will have to check when back on site) the Polycom is also up to date. Ever since the two devices have been connected, intermittently the Polycom has trouble accessing an analog trunk (we have 5 copper POTS lines). What happens is after pressing 9 and then 9 of the 10 phone digits, we get a busy tone. It's as if the dial plan has an error and doesn't accept the last digit. Yet other times it works fine. When the problem happens, the office receptionist tries to dial her cell phone number and it does the same thing (busy tone after dialing 9 and 9 digits). By the time I get on site which can be a day or a few hours later, it seems to work fine. When it happened, I also had the receptionist power cycle the phone by disconnecting the Lan cable (phone is poe powered) and plug it back it and it did the same thing. We tried calling our Mitel provider and they say they can't do anything because this is a third party SIP phone so they can't see anything in their logs. If it where a restriction, then it would always be active. If it was a outgoing line available problem, other phones would have the same problem. If one of the lines was a problem, then it would just grab another line within the 5 lines. If all lines were busy, then yes it could be a problem.
They tell me that, the phone only contacts the controller when a dial plan is matched. They tell me there are not sip logging features within the Mitel. When the phone wasn't able to dial an outside number, I also had the receptionist dial an internal extension and it worked fine. The Polycom was also able to receive calls from internal extensions so the phone is properly registered with the controller. When the problem happened, our analog trunks were available. The tests were done early in the morning before staff arrived. I have also checked each of the analog trunks and they are all in working condition(has dial tone). Does the Polycom have it's own logging features?
Second annoying issue. On the Polycom, there a button that is labelled New Call. We noticed that when you press on New Call and then an outside number, it doesn't dial out. All the users know that they must punch in the numbers and just press on send call. Is there way to either remove that button or make it work so that if new call is pressed, they can then enter their 9 and 10 digit number?
Thank you
