One of the objectives of this forum to help all of improve on our English skills. One method to achieve that is to point out errors so that we may all learn from them. However, they can only be effective if the underlying rule is also identified and explained. It might also be helpful to provide an alternative.

From this point on, any post which identifies a error, and does not expose the underlying rule governing that error will be summarily deleted.

If you don't know the rule, don't make the call.

This should be "an error".

The rule is to use 'an' in place of 'a' when it precedes a vowel sound.

The sound of the vowel being the important part to this rule.
